Third grade readers review the word patterns from second grade and begin to read increasingly complex multisyllable words, including words with Latin and Greek patterns. Students build fluency and work on comprehension.
Each student has a reading folder. The reading folder should go home Monday through Wednesday and come back the next day. There will be practice items in the folder for students to complete. Students are expected to do about five minutes of assigned practice Monday through Wednesday with an adult. This practice should be completed with your child reading out loud while the adult follows along, monitoring accuracy. The practice items will be in the folder along with a sheet requiring the initials of a parent/guardian or otherwise responsible adult.
